About Me

A New Steering Wheel

My husband is a frugal person. The two of us are still living in the starter home he purchased before we met nearly twenty years ago. He is driving a truck he bought eighteen years ago. While he still adores his truck, he knows he needs to make some necessary repairs to it in order to keep it running smoothly. For instance, in the near future, he expects to replace the automobile’s motor. He also needs to get the heater in his vehicle fixed. Because the truck is so old, its interior has seen better days. The seats need some new upholstery. And, he is in desperate need of a new steering wheel. I would like to purchase this item for my spouse for the upcoming holidays. On this blog, you will discover the latest trends in steering wheels designed for trucks. Enjoy!

Tips for Caring for Your Used Car's Tinted Automotive Glass

by Kim Murphy

If you recently purchased a used car that has tinted windows, then it is important that you properly care for them. Your car's tinted windows will protect its interior from sun damage and provide you extra privacy for many years to come if you take certain steps to keep them clean and in good repair. To this end, here are some time-tested tips to help you properly maintain your used car's tinted windows:

Tip: Use Glass Cleaner to Regularly Clean the Outside of Your Tinted Automotive Glass

Since the tint on your car's windows is a thin film that was applied to the interior surface of the glass, you can clean the exterior of the windows when they become soiled by using regular glass cleaner and a sheet of newspaper or a lint-free cloth. Newspaper works well to clean windows because it does not leave paper fibers behind.

Tip: Use Water and a Clean Cloth to Clean the Inside of Your Tinted Windows

For cleaning the inside of the glass where the tinted film was applied, you need to use clean water and a soft cotton or microfiber cloth. You should not use glass cleaners, paper towels, or newspaper on the inside because they can damage the thin tinting film.

Tip: Use a Dishwashing Detergent Solution for Tough Streaks or Stains on Tinted Window Film

If you have soiled areas on the interior of your car's windows that do not get clean enough with just water, then you can safely use a solution of warm water and dishwashing detergent to clean them. Mix a small amount of dish soap in a bucket of warm water and apply it to your windows using a soft sponge or cotton cloth. Gently rub the windows clean with the soapy solution and then rinse them off with a bit of clean water. Once the soiled areas are clean, then dry them well using a cotton cloth or microfiber towel.

Tip: Have an Automotive Professional Evaluate Any Tint Film Damage You Find

Finally, if you find any scratches or other areas of damage on your used car's window tint film when you are in the process of cleaning them, then you should take your car to an automotive shop like Cutting Edge Audio that applies tinting to windows. The technician at the shop can evaluate any damaged areas and let you know how they can be fixed.
